Notice Ibuki didn’t go by choice. He ran to mom, tried to hide yet she let him go!! He kept trying to escape. I see Peach is following them and I wish someone would look out for Ibuki.
They do that as reassurance to each other. If you do a RUclips search for "Chimp vs. Leopard", there is a video of a scientific study of how chimps work as a team to overcome adversaries. They do a lot of the hand biting in that video. Fubuki (with a U) is his older brother and it's instinctive to learn from and to teach to younger/older group members. Family members are even closer and they housed together at night for a lot of Ibuki's first year.
Of course, I'm no expert, but watch a lot of chimp videos over the last couple of years and you definitely see patterns in their behavior across the board in both zoo and wild.
I think Fubki do it to keep Ibuki from getting down or escaping..For reassurance they but their hand in another chimp for a few seconds. But I'm no expert either.
Emma, I thin Fubuki does that when he wants to prevent Ibuki from running or jumping away from him, but cant use his hand to hold Ibuki be cause he needs it for something else, like climbing. That's why he has the poor little guy's hand in his mouth so often when he jumps to the ground. He's not trying to hurt Ibuki, but he has to bite down pretty hard to keep him in place. I think he has even cut Ibui's hand. You can see blood on it, I think.
Imagine if all RUclips comments were this high-value. What a great response and also I've never actually watched the Chimps vs Leopard video despite it being in my recommended for years. The time has come lol.

Yeah..I wish Momoko would've stopped Fubuki from taking him.
Wish I understood the true reason Ibuki places his hand in Fabukis mouth.
